Vicky's world was turned upside down when she found out she had the rare form of Melanoma skin cancer. She thankfully got her skin cancer checked out when it was at stage 1 giving her every chance of beating it and surviving. She will admit coming up to review appointments she becomes very anxious but the team of skin care specialists at based at Downpatrick and Belfast Hospitals have been fantastic and have given her so much support. She is a teacher of primary school children and always promotes to them the importance of wearing hats in the sun, putting on sunscreen. She would love to see more in way of educating children at a young age in being aware of protecting their skin.
